Restore this piece?
I bought this 1940's waterfall dresser & it needs some love. This is one side of the front....I want to keep the wood design so what's the best way to do that?

Hi Ceilia, If you are looking to fix the scratches and revitalize the wood to keep the design I would try giving it a good wax or a coat of Hemp Oil. Both will bring back the natural wood colour and design and show lessen the visibility of the scratches. It looks like a beautiful piece!

Have you tried any of the new beeswax products. I recently cleaned up and polished a cabinet with some and it looked great!
My absolute favourite way to refurbish old wood - and keep the patina - is Howard’s Restora Finish. Easy to use with beautiful results.
I would just clean nicely and use beeswax to restore beauty
A light cleaning is a start. We used Homer Formby's tung oil to refinish an antique coat tree.
It looks nice all you need to do is wax it up nice
Howards or Formbys are my go to.
Your piece is beautiful. I use either Howards, or Formbys. They do an excellent restoration.
Use Murpy's oil soap to gently clean, then use an oil for woodworking to bring the wood back to life.
I would use a wood oil to polish it
Clean it with Murphy's oil soap then seal it with three coats of a water based polyurethane
Hello Cecelia,
Teak oil might be what is needed. You can buy scratch cover in light medium and dark wood. Use a Walnut kernel rubbed into the scratch, it should fill it and also oil it at the sAME TIME. tHERE ARE ALSO cOLOURED pENS FOR HIDING SCRATCHES AVAILABLE TOO.
