How do I make a fabric backsplash water resistant?
Planning to put fabric on my kitchen backsplash. If I use liquid starch under and over the fabric to paste it to the wall, will it be water resistant?

No, starch will not make a fabric backsplash water resistant. Further, starch can attract bugs.

maybe use Scotchguard.
I would cover it with several coats of a high gloss polycrylic to make sure it's cleanable and we'll protected.
Mod Podge makes a formula for outdoors that is water resisitant.

Thats a hard one. How thick is the fabric? If not completely sealed it will get stained. Perhaps several coats of an epoxy would be the best.
You would for sure need a waterproof sealer. I like Ann's idea of the outdoor Mod Podge!
Flex seal has a clear. Test on a piece of scrap material.
I vote for Annie Sloan's new lacquer. It comes in matte and gloss and is rated for interior & exterior. I have it on my porch and it has helped up perfect this summer.
