Should I use coloured grout for white subway tiles?
I am updating my honey oak kitchen with white subway tiles that give it a pop. I am wondering if I should use grey grout or keep white.

Hi Joan, if your cupboards are honey oak colour I would personally stick with white. Even though it can be a bit harder to keep clean, it will give the tiles and nice crisp white (and even) colour.
White is hard to keep white even with grout sealer. I would go grey. It also makes the tiles stand out better. They make other colors of grout as well.
Grey grout adds more interest and drama. That’s what we did here and we love it: https://www.frugalfamilytimes.com/2015/09/when-youre-sick-of-your-old-oak-kitchen.html
I would go white, that is what we did with ours. It looks so clean and bright. I haven't had trouble keeping our grout clean.
Hello. Chose what you feel is best for you. We chose a specialized white grout that had a hint of sparkle to it. Very often tile shops have very intriguing displays that might help your decision thats how wemade our choice.
Joan: I think simple is always best... then you won't tire of it. If you want to bring in grays --- do it with accessories!
The gray grout will make each tile stand-out. The white will make it blend. Do what YOU like best!
Thank you very much for your suggestions
This is a subjective design dilemma and depends on your taste really. Gray is going to stand out more and white is going to blend in and look like a white wall, so it's really up to you. If you don't like either, you can use a grout paint pen to change it.
Gray is the most neutral of all colors (My Lottery Dream Home).
lighter colored grout is harder to clean if you get anything in it - I would go with a darker grout depending on colors you are using in your kitchen-
Grey looks nice
This is a personal preference. It depends if you want the contrast of not.
Hi Joan, here is a great link to show the effects of different colored grout, hope it helps you decide,

Totally personal, I love a bit of contrast.
It’s a personal preference but you could go white then paint if you don’t like it.
I would go white for a clean "non-busy" look.
Keep it white! If it gets discoloured you can always paint the grout white again or try grey! Myself If I did choose to try grey, it would only be the odd one and not the lot I would do.
A light gray would look nice it would break up the stark white while at the same time not being a huge contrast.
If you go with the white and don't care for it after getting used to it. You can always use a grout pen to color it with whatever color you'd like. If you start with the gray or a darker color it will be more difficult to bring it back to white.
It will stand out more with a color. You can paint later if grey no longer works for you then seal it.
Mapei makes a grout colorant. You could experiment with it to see what you like better. They have tons of colors and it has a sealant in it. A tedious job but lasts for years and years.
