Potato Masher Pillow Makeover
You can make a customized, one of a kind pillows using a plain white pillowcase and a potato masher...wait, huh? That is right, dig through your kitchen drawers and find something that will make a good stamp for your one of a kind pillow.
You only need a few supplies for this project:
- Plain White pillow case
- Fabric Paint (any color you wish) *Be sure to get Soft and washable paint so the paint does not leave a crunchy, crusty feel!
- Potato Masher (or any kitchen or garage tool you want to stamp)
- A piece of cardboard
You can use a whole pillowcase if you want to dress up a bed. I used a white cotton pillowcase and cut off the bottom third. I kept the three sewn sides together and just cut off the opening. After I was done, I did sew up the bottom after it was stuffed. If you do not sew, then you can easily buy fabric glue and glue the seam together.
Use a piece of cardboard and stuff it between the pillow so the paint will not bleed through to the back.
Make sure it is cut to the opening so it fits easily.
Next, squirt your fabric paint on a paper plate and get ready to dip!
I used a potato masher. It had a more modern look with the circle and squares in the middle.
Dip your masher into the paint on the plate.
Carefully stamp onto your pillow.
Depending on the size of your pillow, you can determine how many prints you want across and down the pillow.
Let your paint dry, stuff your pillow, and sew or glue up the bottom. How about that?! A custom pillow, with a cool design and you would have never guessed the stamp came from your kitchen drawer!
