Natural Wood and Chalk Painted Vanity/Desk
Do you have an antique piece of furniture that needs some love and TLC? I found this vanity for $40 on Facebook Marketplace with intentions to fix it up! It had been spray painted cream but the paint had turned into a yellowish color which didn't look pretty.
My plan was to sand it down to show areas of the natural wood color and to paint the top of the vanity and the drawers a french blue.
I also refinished the hardware with a nice gold foil rub 'n buff.
This vanity never looked better!
This vanity needed a lot of TLC.
Remove the drawers and the drawer hardware.
Then, lightly sand the sides of the vanity and the fronts of the drawers. Make sure to wear protective goggles and ear plugs. The top and drawers will be painted so no need to overdo the sanding.
Once the natural wood look is achieved, move on to the next area. The sanding pad may need to be replaced several times.
After sanding has been completed, blow out the garage and wipe down the whole vanity with a clean, wet towel.
Once the paint dries (after at least 12 hours, paint a second coat).
(The top hardware is the original shade)
Here is the finished product!
This vanity never looked so good!
