Adding storage to a small kitchen
I just invested in a small single wide mobile home, and there is no storage in my kitchen. I was wondering how I could make my kitchen seem bigger or add more cabinets please.

We purchased a tall, slender cabinet to go between the refrigerator and wall at Home Depot for my daughter's mobile home.
My parents have one at the lake and mother put a china cabinet for storage, just covered the glass so you can't see inside. Another option would be an armoire. I see people giving them away on marketplace or selling for $50 quite often. You could paint it if you can't match your cabinets.
As for making the kitchen look bigger, go with lots of bright lights and add light colored accents. Keep counters cleared. If your cabinets are dark, consider lightening by either painting or putting contact paper on the doors.
Hi Debra, when working with a small space I always try to go up. If you are not looking to do a major renovation but have a bit of space you could add a vintage cabinet that is high but doesn't have a big footprint. This will give you lots of extra storage without taking up a lot of extra room.

Hi there Debra. My name is Cindy. You have to get creative to create more storage in a small kitchen. Use the room inside your cabinets. Put the shelves closer together if there is dead space not being used. You can also put shelving in the cabinet under the sink. That will double the space. Put hooks or a small towel bar on the inside of your cabinet doors. You can use a small tension rod under the sink to hang your cleaning products. Most cleaning products have a spray pump. The handles of these products will fit on the rod. For more storage get some large baskets and place them on top of your refrigerator. And, last, is there anywhere where you could hang a pot rack? You can fit a lot hanging pots and pans, cooking utensils, etc. Good luck Debra. And congratulations on your new home.

Hi Debra,
Use the space above the cabinets. Ask Mobile home sellers what they suggest. Maybe they can add or alter the arrangement you have to give you more space! Enjoy your new home!

I would create and add a couple free floating or open shelves - use 2”x8” or 2”x10” @ about 3’ -4’ (ft) long (have it cut at Home Depot) and put a couple coats of fun paint or stain on them - buy some pretty or industrial L type brackets (2 per 3’-4’ shelf) to hold/brace the shelves to the wall (underneath shelf). Put your matching plates, bowls and glasses on the shelves and use the cabinets for storage. Screw in hooks underneath for coffee cups. OR build an eat-on counter and create shelves underneath for additional storage. And/Or hang wire shelves above washer and dryer for additional pots and pans etc. OR hang a pot rack somewhere and hang pots, lids, colander etc :))
Make use of all the space (ie IKEA) you have such as hang a shelf above/across a kitchen window (IKEA metal bakers rack/shelf is awesome) to put things on, dishes or pots, cups etc; hang a magnetic strip near the stove to hang cooking knives, ikea rods with lots of handy hooks and platforms for seasonings, oils, tea boxes etc. All cheap IKEA ideas :))
Some ways you can add more storage to you kitchen is by adding cup hooks for coffee cups, etc.underneath your cabinets. You can also add Command Hooks to the insides of your cabinets to hang measuring spoons, etc. You can also buy those metal racks that are made for creating more storage in cabinets. (That stand alone in your cabinet and create an extra shelf, so to speak.)

If there's room, you can always purchase a floating island with cabinet space. We did this and it was great to have the extra storage and workspace.
