Not a how to comment but if you plan on building a gas fire pit, be careful to avoid moisture. Cover the rocks when not in use to avoid rain saturation.
Before you begin any fire pit project check first with your municipality/county office to learn what they bylaws my be regarding fire pits on your particular property. Many areas now do not permit them any more due to the fire hazard they may pose.
Hi! How big are the rocks? Plan on a level top so a screen or grate is on top. Are you planning on digging into the ground? Check local regulations. Where I live a mesh screen must cover the fire to prevent it from spreading or you pay a substantial fine. Good luck and stay safe!
Hi Rachel, hope this will help you build your fire pit. We suggest an inch layer of sand or pea gravel on the bottom of the fire pit for a sturdy foundation. Next, take your lava rocks and place around the fire pit and burner so it fills just enough rock to cover the burner. You are now ready to lite your firepit.

I think you will still need rocks or brick for the outside? We just used larger rocks, did a dry fit and went from there.
You could dig a small pit and just edge it with all of your rocks! Should be pretty easy!
