Hi Peggy, I would check out Ikea! They have every type of tv stand or configuration imaginable and if it saves you the hassle of having to make your own, it would be worth a trip there. Yes, you aren't getting quality wood furniture but they do make it easy to get nice looking affordable furniture fast.
Having said that, I do love real wood;). If you really want to make one, here is a great tv. stand with a couple of shelves. Looks great!

Hi Peggy stacked crates would be a fun and inexpensive idea. Have you checked out your local salvage yard or thrift stores? You might be able to score a narrow shelf that you could lay on its side for very little cost.
Thank you so much for taking the time to answer me.

Why not try a floating shelf? If you put strong brackets on it would definitely hold a large TV
If you are at all handy it can be very easy to cutdown an old entertainment center. Remove the top which will be reattached. Determine how high you want it and cut the unwanted cubicles off. You can use any removed pieces to create added dividers if needed. Then reattach the top and you are ready with a new "console" height.
