Add a baton to your wall. Fix a baton to the back of the Bookshelf. Add a hinge or three and then fix to wall baton. Then push the bed back. Otherwise if you have fixings at the end of the bed, you can make or buy the timber forks to fit over them that screw to the headboard. Best wishes.

Since you don't say which bookshelf you have, the best idea is to attach it to the wall with screws and put the bed in front of it.

Not sure if it is the safest idea but maybe you can get it to work for you;). Good luck!
You can screw directly into the wall and turn on it's side. Then consider more shelves the other direction so that you have rectangular spaces. Make sure you go into studs with the screws.
Hello could you post a picture or a screenshot of the bookcase you have to give us an idea of the dimensions of the item you have to work with? More information might get more appropriate answers to your question.

You're most welcome Karen. Enjoy making your headboard, it's going to be awesome
Definitely! If you’re able to move it around a bit, try a few configurations to see what works best, if you need to add in around it, then secure it to the wall into the studs.
Put it behind your bed! So cool!
