Color trends in kitchen remodels??
I am a senior, remodeling my kitchen myself. My countertops will remain the same, laminate in beiges and grays. I painted my lower cabinets the same gray in the countertop. I removed all upper cabinets but one and am planning on painting them the same color as the shiplap ... a creamy white. I thought about painting the shiplap a soft beige to coordinate w/the countertop, but I was wondering if "three" colors are too many ... gray lower cabinet, cream upper cabinet and beige walls ... or should I just stick to two colors? I was considered, due to very little natural light, that beige walls MIGHT darken the kitchen too much ... thanks for any input!

I like the idea of matching the shiplap. Not because 3 colors is too much, especially since you have them in your countertops, but for the light issue you mentioned. I like as much light reflecting surface in my kitchen area as possible.
That said, if you feel the beige is ok for light I see no reason you couldn't match it to the beige in the countertop.
If you feel there is too much of any one color why not white wash the ship lap so that the natural wood grain peeks out that would add some more texture to the space while keeping the lighter colors.
I agree with the first commenter I think matching the shiplap will look more modern. That being said though a little contrast in a kitchen is a good thing!
White will always brighten a room.
Sounds like a fabulous project! Are you able to share a photo of your progress? That would help us with colors, etc!
All three of you choices are pale neutrals. This should not be an issue as they all blend well.
You can't go wrong with white! You could add the beige with accessories to tie in the countertop.
The 3 colors will add to the character of your kitchen and make it more interesting.
Can you share a picture? It really depends on what shades of color you are using
Hello. Posting a photograph might be helpful to get more personalized responses to your question. It’s hard to know what exact shade of beige and gray that you’re using with your lighting situation. It sounds like you’re using a lovely pallette of neutrals that should be very pleasing.
Hello,
Best way to know, is to use a piece of card, sketch wall & cabinets and then paint the colours and then see how you feel. Stand the card in a prominent place in the kitchen, before committing to the scheme and view it at different times of the day and evening and move it around to make sure . Hope that helps.
