give them a good wash over with soapy water. When dry, If Timber, use a furniture polish, if Paint, If they don't look good, maybe time to re-paint!

If natural wood, give them a good cleaning and then Orange Glo It cleans and polishes. If you are looking to change the whole appearance, then consider painting. Or you can go another step further and put on wood transfers to fancy thing up. Take a look here:

OrangeGlo will revive dull cabinets. If you have build up, clean with a degreaser first.
If you don't like the color of them, I would paint them a fresh coat of white paint to lighten up your kitchen and the overall look of them. You could also get new hardware. There is a lot of posts on Hometalk for refinishing kitchen cabinets.
