Maybe a straight edge or ruler on the bottom of each letter..
A ruler
I would try using a ruler or stencils. You could even maybe plan your page out on a printer, print out your lettering and then add your photos.
Straight edge of some sort, even a piece of paper will do, ruler, faint pencil line. Whatever works best for you.
I use a see-through ruler. Works like a charm!
