First, I would do this outside. Use a stiff brush dipped in bleach and use your fingers to 'flick' off the bleach onto the rug. Once you have the look you want, rinse the rug with water to stop the bleaching action and wash it.
Hello. I might suggest cutting off some test fibers on the edge where it might not be noticed and testing the reaction with bleach.
Some fibers bleach better than others. Also some rug companies put in a Scotchgard like protective coating which could result into some problems excepting the bleach into the fiber.
Hi Natalie, your idea is quite artistic. I suggest finding a small remnant/piece of wool carpet nearest the same color as yours and doing a test prior to attempting your project. Very likely the bleached areas will turn a rust color. Is that the look you are wanting? I've experimented with dyes, paints, and bleach on a number of differnt fabrics and am amazed at what happens.........sometimes completely opposite of what my expectations were!! So, i'd say....experiment, experimenet, experiment before starting.

As a tidbit of info, it will be difficult to get white from black. Normally this ends up being a bit yellow if only one application.
The bleach will turn it orange just try a test area first
You can use a tie dye method with rubber bands
Put it on the floor out side and spray with a bottle or just throw bleach on it we’re old clothing and gloves
I think if you bleached it it would turn purple how about white paint splater
it for sure will be oryginal !! I will for sure try
what size is it and is it all wool?
