This is a VERY temporary fix, and doesn't really work that well anyway.
Prevent cushions from falling off sectional that I've had to separate?
We just bought a sectional couch and the largest piece won't fit through the front door. Temporarily, we're using the sections that could fit but the cushions slide off the side that's supposed to be connected. I'm afraid the temporary fix I've inserted will damage the cushion over time, and sliding against a wall doesn't work in the space. Suggestions?

A long strip of Tape-on Velcro could be added to the bottom of the cusion and the top of the portion of the sectional just below the cushion.
I would screw a board covering half the cushion and half the base the depth of the base. Paint it black or gray or stain it dark.
They make couch cushion grippers. Here is what I am talking about:

Large end table or even a small dresser to use as an end table? As long as its heavy enough and has a flat back it could act as a "wall" beside the sofa and also give some extra storage in the meantime too.
Hello,
Attach a piece of wood or metal to the side frAME AND TAKE IT UP TO JUST ABOVE THE EDGE OF THE CUSHON. Decorate to taste..
Put some non-skid shelf liner under the cushion. You can get it at the dollar store.
I know you asked for suggestions to keep the cushions from falling off but you still have a couch section that wouldn't fit thru the door. I had this problem too. We moved the feet from the couch and removed the handle on a patio door that made it open enough to fit it in. Then simply rescrew the feet on. Or a professional upholsterer may be able to remove the back and then recover it.
I would add velcro to the underside of the cushion. You will need to use quite a bit but that should hold in place.
Thank you for the suggestions everyone, this site is great! I'm trying to avoid permanently altering the section i.e. nailing anything to it but I think I'll try the Velcro, couch grippers etc. We live upstairs and our door is in an enclosed stairwell, couch is too tall to fit, it hits the ceiling and the stairwell doesn't allow enough space for it to come in at an angle. Thanks again, you're all great!
You could add velcro under the cushions to help them stay.
Hi Amber, I would put some velcro strips on the cushion and base. You can sew or stick them one.
We had that issue and used a mat for the tub that had texture along

You can add industrial strength Velcro between the cushions.
