What is the sq footage of the bedroom?
Is your son still sleeping in a crib, or toddler size bed?
How big is your bed? Having a single sized bed as your bed will give you more floor space than a larger double sized bed.
The size of the room is a factor and you are in an apartment, which you either rent or own. If you rent it, what will the landlord allow you to do?
Your son will be walking and climbing soon so I would tend to stay away from something that will fold up and fall over, like a folding partition.
Have you considered a tension rod across the room with a curtain hung from it, that way there would be no holes to repair. Just push it aside when not in use.
Or you could put something on the heavier side like a chest or a dresser.
A simple free-standing room divider is an easy way to have 2 separate areas.

Hello Annastacia Doll,
Buy a Dressing Screen, or Fit a Roller Blind to the Ceiling or Use a Room Divider piece of furniture (Bookcases)!
Definitely agreed on the room divider idea! But, maybe even better, if you already have bedroom furniture (dressers etc) you could position those in the center of the room to double as storage and as your divider! The back of the dresser could even serve as a headboard or footboard for one of your beds. From there you could have a curtain above the furniture to get even more privacy.

You can hang a curtain to define the space. You can also use your furniture but you want to make sure it isn't something that he can pull over onto himself.
if he is ready for a toddler or twin bed then put it on one side of the room and your bed on the other and then add a dresser to share

Hello. A retractable curtain mounted on the ceiling might be an idea to consider for space delineation.
