Since carports are open,
I would “screen it in” with removable and roll-down-able hemmed & weighted screens made for garage doors.
Harbor Freight has their’s on Clearance now for an excellent price.
Cheaper than mosquito netting.
See pic below.
Not natural but really works. I purchased a dyna trap and after the second year I never see pests. Temporary but you can spray original listerine in the air.
I can attest to mosquito traps if screening the car port in is not an option.
Make a mosquito fan.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FEsQ4_KiBWQ put an open bottle of club soda in front will emit CO2 that will attract them to the fan.
Although some folks have had luck with scent deterrents, it may be that you need a solution that will prevent the mosquitos from getting into the carport in the first place. I would suggest considering putting up some mosquito netting during the worst part of the the season.
Could you screen the carport?
Have you tried mosquito traps?
Something as simple as a fan can blow them away, set up a large fan and turn it on. They are poor fliers and wind can redirect their destination away from people.

Are you seeking an ongoing throughout the day kind of solution or temporary while people are in the carport? A plant will likely not do the trick as it's my understanding that it's the oil of the plant that works not the plant itself. Fans will help keep them out and a Thermacell works terrifically if you're spending time in there.

Finding any forgotten food sources and removing them from the shed or garage is a simple yet effective method for keeping pests away. Most mice, rats, and insects move into a garage or shed because of some attractive smelling food. While human snacks are an obvious culprit, one type of pest may lead to another. If you have a cricket infestation, they will attract scorpions on the southwest. If you have a mice infestation, they will attract snakes. Insects can eat many materials you wouldn’t think of as food, including cardboard and paper that gets wet and spilled liquids with sugary ingredients.
