What type of casters to use on vintage Singer sewing base?
I have a vintage Singer sewing base that I plan to use as a desk. I will use this desk at a corner banquette - when I'm not using the desk, I will move it to the side of the banquette to use as a side table. I want to replace the current metal casters with a caster that won't scratch up my (luxury vinyl plank) floors, but will also look good - and roll easily. Any suggestions?

The vintage Singer sewing machine we have has the tiny casters I'd swear were designed to gouge floors. Very difficult to relocate easily. The way around your problem might be to retro fit it with something that would go over the caster and part of the bottom of the leg.
A picture of your sewing machine base would have been helpful in finding a solution, could you post 1?
Check your local hardware or home improvement store for replacements. Bring an old one with you so you can check size.
The covered black ones would look good. They are larger. The main thing to not damage floor is keeping them clean.
Check out amazon.
I would bring an old one to Home Depot or a hardware store to compare
I would think that any casters might still damage your floor. I would leave the casters on and use caster cups like these for it: https://amzn.to/3iwJXIo
Check out some plastic ones here that say they are wood floor safe: https://amzn.to/2V4jUQQ
Harbor Freight Tools sells all types of casters. If there is one near you. Otherwise Menards, Home Depot, Lowes. Take one with you to match the mounting and shaft

Hello. Furniture casters are made for rolling action I would just carefully match the same size that you have. Consider bringing them with you shopping or measure them when ordering online.
In my experience many folks choose casters by putting lowest price first. All casters are not created equally. Better quality casters that are a little larger add to the stability of the item being moved, will give a smoother 'ride' , and will not stick or get caught on variations in floor height and floor coverings as easily as cheap casters will.
You need something that will fit on the narrow legs ebay has all sizes so you could see them measure the width
Hi! You may be limited by how the wheels attach and their size. Removing one will give you the measurements and details you need to replace them with something better. Good luck!
We have a chair shop in our town, the gentleman repairs and makes new. I would see if there was someone like that near your or perhaps you could locate one online...because most of what you find at the stores are going to mar your floors. I would talk to a pro if possible for a recommendation.
I use those mini black plastic casters cause they roll on carpet or hardwood floors, I am always putting them on tables, cabinets, tv tables, ottomans for my senior & disabled clients.... they come from 1/2" to 4", I like the stem kinds, just drill a hole in the bottom of each leg and insert the wheel stem. If you want you can epoxy it in place after dry fitting to make sure the hole is deep enough and wide enough for the stem..... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VK59PNG/ref=sspa_dk_detail_5?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B07VK59PNGp13NParams&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzU09FTkk3NE9CTDI3JmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNTA2OTA3MUZKUU9ZV0VWSEVaOCZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNDM1OTY3MTk4QUtIMlJWTllUMCZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2RldGFpbDImYWN0aW9uPWNsaWNrUmVkaXJlY3QmZG9Ob3RMb2dDbGljaz10cnVl
