Late Summer Fun With a Picnic Ants Tablescape

Home made picnic ants are made from jingle bells and fun gingham check ant plates are both DIY projects.
The bells were spray painted in Rust-oleum's Colonial Red. Wire legs and antennas were cut and hot glued onto the bells. A couple more quick coats of spray paint were applied before the eyes were hot glued on.
The gingham check plates were made by gluing (Modge Podge craft glue would work well) material that was cut to fit the back of the plate with an extra half inch of material all the way around to allow for adjustment of the pattern. After allowing to dry overnight the excess material was removed with a razor. Wipe off the glass front with hot soapy water, rinse, and dry and the plate is ready to use.
Use whatever colorful picnic theme accessories you have and the gingham ant plates and the jingle bell ants for a great colorful end of summer picnic table.
