Pottery Barn Inspired Painted Pumpkin Pillows

I saw the gorgeous hand painted pumpkin pillows in Pottery Barn' s fall catalog and was in love. I wanted to re-create something that was similar with outdoor fabric I purchased for 60% and some fabric paint. Here's the results.
I used standard 20x20 pillow forms and cut two 20 inch squares of fabric. I then just started in on the painting process. I painted two big orange blobs to start with and then started adding in other colors of orange and brown to give the pumpkins life.
I really adore the weathered look this pillow took on. Because the outdoor fabric is naturally repellent, it dries with a weathered look built right in. If I wanted more opaqueness I saturated an area more with paint.
I ended up spending about $20 to make these two pillows...total. About 1/5 the cost of what they would have been if I ordered them and had them shipped. Plus they aren't exactly the same and no one else on my street has them. Happy crafting!
