These unique head bookends are definitely a love it or hate it project. I have a thing for kooky bookends, so this pair that I made from a FloraCraft™ foam head make me happy. But I would totally understand if someone thought they were too weird for words. What's your opinion?
What do you think of these quirky bookends? They would make for a great conversation piece on your bookshelf!
The project started with a foam mannequin head (slightly creepy) and a challenge to make a home decor project with it. It took a lot of brainstorming to come up with a project that was usable outside of the Halloween season.
I just cut the foam head in half and mounted each half on a set of old metal bookends. The bookends are not visible so it appears as if the head is keeping the books in line.
Unless you are examining the bookends closely, they appear to be made of white ceramic like some of the other decorative elements on our built in shelves.

Cheryl Khan on Oct 24, 2014For some reason, I fear that I won't be able to make a clean cut. Foam can get a bit sticky sometimes. What did you use to cut them in half?
