My Whitewashed Brick Fireplace at Christmas

I wrote a post a few months back about my whitewashed brick hearth. I had many comments (well, a ton) and a few wanted to see it done up for Christmas. I just finished decorating it and took a few pics to share!
Here is the before of the room. My husband was in the process of ripping out the old parquet flooring and installing the new hardwoods. You can see how dark the brick fireplace and mantel looked.
Here is the room now. The mantel was painted in Annie Sloan Old White and the brick was whitewashed in the same paint. You can find my post all about it on my Hometalk site (The Painted Drawer) or my blog. The floors turned out beautifully. They are engineered hardwood floors that can go over concrete (our family room is on a concrete slab and was extremely cold with the old, very thin parquet floor. Now that we added the hardwood it has really improved).
The coffee table was a thrift score find (as were all of the tables in the room). I painted and dark waxed in a gorgeous blue for the room.
My vintage teddy is all set. I need to give him a red bow for the holidays!
Many viewers thought I should paint the antique brass to a black or darker color. I happen to like the brass against the lighter paint and feel that black might make it look like a dark hole. It also would be a ton of work as it was custom fitted to the space so taking it out and putting back isn't easy.
The dresser under the tv was found at Goodwill and cost $90. The little chair was $10 and the large chair on the right was bought at Ikea. It's comfy for the room and the ottoman was also bought at a thrift store for about $10 (I cleaned it!).

Is there a link to your original whitewashing project? I would love to know how you did yours. I have construction brick, and don't want the tailored look of a painted fireplace...I want the whitewashed look. Yours seems to be the right amount of whitewash compared to others I have seen. Thank you.
