A Compact Crate Snow Village From a Crate

As much as I adore snow villages, I don't have enough extra flat surface in my home to have one. Drat.
So I applied my own junk spin to one!
I rounded up a crate, attached a darling print, and created a little snow scene out of reclaimed finds, that can be hung or displayed anywhere! Complete with little flickering fire pit...
Would this idea work in a little dark corner in your own home?
Here's how I did it!

Here's how I did it!
This cute little snow scene in a crate is perfectly compact and easy for anyone to make!
To create trees, a branch was prepared by cutting the right sized chunk, then drilling a hole. The evergreen branch was simply inserted, with no glue needed.
A perfectly sized crate that could house a clipboard was first waxed (for easy cleaning), then lightly misted with spray snow. Heavy on the bottom, graduating to light on top.
A piece of flannel was ripped to create a tree garland of sorts.
The fire pit was created by placing a battery operated tea light inside a mason jar ring, then topped with faux snow. Tiny sticks top the effect. The flicker it gives is quite realistic!

Rita C. - Panoply on Nov 24, 2015So cute! I love Lucy's artwork. That's a nice way of using the truck without making it cliche. You're so very clever, @Donna
