DIY Mudroom Bench

We just moved into a new house that we built (or rather, HAD built...we didn't actually build it ourselves.) When you build a house, unless you have unlimited funds, you will have to pick and choose which upgrades to get with the house and which to wait on or do yourself. We decided to pass on their mudroom bench and do it ourself. But moving in the middle of winter required this project to be done ASAP!
I sat down first and drew out the whole plan, down to every tiny detail. This is the best way to get every measurement right, which was helpful when I went to Home Depot to get the 3/4" sheets of 4x8 MDF ripped to the right widths. I don't have a table saw so I use a RIpCut attached to my circular saw. But still it's easier for transport and to carry (4x8 3/4" MDF sheets are HEAVY yall!)
This project intimidated me but once I tackled it, I feel like I just stepped up my DIY game a full level.
I wish I could have made it larger, but our space didn't allow more. But for now it works well for our family of five.
Enjoyed the project?
