DIY Blanket Ladder Using Repurposed Crib Spindles

Blanket ladders are so useful and popular these days. There are lots of ways to make them from scrap lumber. I chose to use a scrap 2x6, ripped into a basic 2x2. Instead of using lumber for the ladder rungs, I decided to use some of my many, many crib spindles I have in my stash.
This diy blanket ladder is a little wider than most that you can buy at the store or online. That's the great thing about DIY, you can customize items to suit your needs.
Using a drill bit guide to size up the dowel end on your spindle will help you chose the perfect paddle bit to drill the holes in your 2x2's.
Tip: clamp your 2x2's together and drill all the way through both boards at the same time to get them perfectly situated across from one another. Drilling with a scrap board underneath will prevent some splintering as your drill bit exits the bottom board.
