I have always been in love with bronze hoods. What I haven't loved is the price. If you've looked you know they are between $2000 - $7000. Yikes! I decided to set out to see if I could a way to achieve a bronze look without the prize tag. Then I stumbled upon Modern Masters and wow...see what happened!
The wooden range hood before.
First, I applied primer and let it sit 24 hours.
Next I applied the the bronzer coats. You have to apply the first coat, let it dry and then apply the second coat.
The first time I did it I used a brush, but didn't like the finish. I decided to do a coat using a sponging method (on the left).
While the second coat of bronzer is still wet, I sponged on the green patina.
This is how it looked after 15 minutes.
And after 30 minutes.
When all was said and done it looked like this. Better, but not quite what I wanted.
I decided to buy some tacks from Hobby Lobby and gave them the same treatment. Once they dried I added them to the hood.
The final result.
The final result.
The final result.

For years, I have been waiting to have your Bronze Hood, it's the most exciting project I have ever seen. I need to know the type of wood and materials used for making the hood. I finally have my dream kitchen, I can't wait to start working on it.
