It's the Home Depot Monthly Challenge!
Item – 2 x 4 boards, Recipient – a new homeowner
I was super excited about this challenge because I LOVE working with wood! I’m not that great at it, but I love putting in the work and ending up with a piece of furniture I can enjoy and be proud of! You get such a feeling of accomplishment.

It was also awesome that this month’s gift recipient was a new homeowner – because we closed on our house last week!! Oh yeah baby! It only took 2 months. So yeah, after what seems like an eternity of waiting, we have finally purchased our first home. I’ll be sharing lots more about all that soon!
I decided to design a bench because it would be simple to build and I needed something for the little nook right inside our front door. I wanted it open on the bottom to put baskets to corral shoes, scarves, and purses. Here she is!
