Kill Germs Without Using Bleach
So how do I keep the germs away? We don’t use Lysol or bleach. I don’t want us breathing in those toxic fumes, especially since bleach has been implicated in cases of asthma.
Believe it or not, you probably have the two items you need to disinfect your kitchen and bathroom in your house right now. Can you guess what they are?

This is a great mixture for common cold and flu viruses and even E. coli, but it is not effective against corona virus. That’s my number one priority these days. If I’m going to spend the time cleaning, I want to be sure I’m destroying that as well as the rest of the germs and viruses. You may have written your post before we ever imagined we would be hit with such a dangerous pathogen, but we need to alter what we do to fit the times.
Vinegar is ineffective against corona- it will not break down the outer fatty layer. Full strength peroxide will work, but you must spray enough on to leave the entire area wet for 6-8 minutes to destroy corona virus. I’m all for cleaning without using dangerous things when you can, but right now we are fighting a virus that has killed over 640,000 people. I don’t want anyone I care about to add to the statistics. Sometimes you have to use bigger guns to fight bigger enemies. Other options for destroying corona virus are isopropyl alcohol or a solution containing at least 65% alcohol, (vodka will not work- the strongest is only 40% alcohol), a bleach solution of 1 part bleach to 5 parts water. The bleach solution loses its effectiveness after 24 hours, so needs to be made fresh each day. And full strength peroxide, but that can be damaging to skin. Alcohol must be left on 30 seconds before rubbing off and bleach solution left wet for 5 mins. The CDC Covid website has more information.
