American Flag Dresser

After being invited for the 4th of July town parade I knew exactly what it was going to be on my float. At first i had to find a right shape , wavy solid wood dresser ....
this maple triple dresser was perfect potential for my project . It was solid , wavy like a flag, and could already see the finished piece through it .
AFTER
I had to measure the total area of the drawers , calculate 13 stripes distance and paint it carefully using tape. It had to be 13 stripes, red and white .....
Stripes in process.
Area for the stars took 1 and a half drawers area , I had to make sure the white stripe comes under the blue star area ....
I used 3 types and colors of wax to make the "flag" look worn, teared and distressed.
I created my own stencil out of craft foam supply to get the right size and shape for the stars .I had so much fun, and it was also a very emotional process. I counted each star as i was going to make sure there is 50 in total...
As Dan Mac Alpine, editor of the Ipswich Chronicle noticed in his article that this dresser has little to do with business. This piece has more to do with heart . And with gratitude.
Stars are ready, each is distressed and looking great. Do you notice hardware , it lends with the colors of the stars and blue area , you almost can't see it . Because it is a flag now - not a dresser any more ... LOL
Dresser is ready for the Parade. The American Flag was the center piece of the 4th of July parade.
Dan MacAlpine and Dave Sokol from Ipswich Chronicle came over to check out this piece...
American Flag dresser was on display to public at Ipswich Town hall.
