Just go with it...it can look awesome...very retro! Paint the walls a much lighter version of the yellow tiles. Decorate with black and white pictures, accessories and maybe a vase with some yellow flowers or a large picture with black, white and gold/yellow colors and some coordinating accessories. Play around with it...it can be striking!
I'm seeing a retro tropical paper with the yellow in it--as an accent color, not the main one. Match towels to another accent from the paper.
1960s tropicals are very on trend right now.
I have this same exact tile in both my kitchens. I painted with a lighter yellow in both. Now 10 yrs later its time to paint again, I want to change the yellow but to what colors I don’t know? The kitchens are different cabinet & appliance colors.

Any Suggestions for 1. Kitchen?
2. White Cabinets, white appliances and I will be putting a new floor down so color suggests on floor and walls would be great.
Any Suggestions for 2. Kitchen?
PJ - without seeing the whole room that is hard - but I would say whatever color you choose that is has a yellow undertone. Our kitchen faces North and it really makes paint twice as dark on the walls. You have to bring home color samples and see how it changes during the day and night. With peel and stick tiles I would stay very neutral or plain without pattern since the tiles are bold with the yellow and black
We have this exact same tile in our house 😂
Hi Lisa, you can add most any color in, I am partial to grey in a light medium or darker tone. You can also paint the tiles a neutral color as they make paint for that. But the yellow it a bright and cheery color, hope this link helps you out

How about the yellow colour as base and then maybe add free hand white and black
design or specks or Stripes or Wallpaper to lift the room.
