Hi Hometalk! Today, I am going to share a stunning and very INEXPENSIVE to boost the beauty of your painted furniture using decoupage paper. Decoupage paper is one of the easiest ways to add design to your furniture, not only that, it is much cheaper compared to transfers.

In this project, I am also showcasing a color that is new to me and I think it really paid off being adventurous because the result was exceptional!

This is the set of nightstands I started with. They were curb-shopped pieces so they were very dirty.

Since the nightstands were so unclean, I really have to clean them outside the studio. I used a TSP substitute thoroughly.

To remove all the residue, I sprayed it down with a hose for extra insurance.

The hardware and design were a little dated so I removed them using a screwdriver and pry bar.

After removing the old hardware and design, I filled the defects of the drawer fronts and hardware holes using a softer wood filler.

This made my sanding much easier as I sanded the nightstands in preparation for priming and painting.

I primed the nightstand with an odor blocker and stain-blocking primer.

I've chosen this color, pale orange with hints of pink, from one of the flowers that I wanted to use on the decoupage tissue.

Now, after painting the base color, I added the decoupage paper. I picked a design with gorgeous purple irises that has also black and white floral that pops and adds a unique flair.

The rice paper adheres to the furniture easily. It is sheer and porous and with any regular topcoat, you won't find any problem sticking it. It also saves you extra since you won't be using any gluing products.

Lastly, I replaced the old hardware with these beautiful copper cup pulls. It surprised that they blend perfectly and they look so elegant.

And here is the finished look! The captivating base color perfectly matches the gorgeous floral decor, also I really need to mention the pretty cup handles that elevate the overall attractiveness of the nightstands.

Here's another look at its before and after. I hope it inspired you to try to decoupage your furniture. Have a fabulous day and Happy Painting friends!
