My cousin asked me to take this makeup vanity that had belonged to her mother-in-law and make it pretty in pink.

It had been sitting in storage for years and it deserved to be loved and revived.

Before

I did all the necessary prep work of cleaning, and sanding which are very much necessary before you can get to the fun part. It’s usually my least favorite part. I also primed this piece in two coats of BIN primer before finally painting it in a Behr Decorative Chalk paint color in a soft pink. Home Depot color matched it to a swatch I picked out.

I didn’t want to just paint the piece pink, I wanted to be a little more extra so I used this Rustoleum Metallic paint in pearl.

I taped off the top drawer to paint some pearl stripes.

I did a few coats of the pearl. Metallics can be translucent and it gives just the right amount of shimmer. It’s so satisfying to remove that blue painters tape.

On the spindles of the legs and the mirror I just added one light coat of the pearl for just a little more balance on the piece.

And those beautiful glass knobs were a splurge from Anthropologie.

And here she is in all her glory now.

I hope you are inspired to try something new!
