I have had this jewelry box for 25-30 years and I have never cared for it but it served it's purpose so I kept it....out of sight. With a quick sanding and a little paint it has now earned a prominent place out in the open.
This is the before picture, now you can see why I had to keep it out of sight. I removed the glass panels and scrubbed them up, luckily the 3d design thingy on the glass came right off when I was cleaning them. I gave the entire surface a quick sanding so the paint would adhere.
I cut out two pieces of paper the size of the glass panels and used green, blue, and violet watercolor to paint my design. I used the Bee's knees paint (sent to me by hometalk) to paint the jewelry box and let it dry.
painted piece.
I used the dark brown paint thinned with water and brushed it on the entire surface over the bee's knees paint ensuring to get it all the nooks and cranny's and then wipe off as much of the brown paint leaving a little of the brown paint in the crevices .
I use the black enamel paint and painted the door and drawer pulls as well as the (fake brass look) frame around the window. I taped the watercolor pieces to the back of the glass panels and reinserted them into the doors.
Here is my finished paint project and now I am kinda lovin it.
