Upcycled Dresser Turned Buffet

A beautiful transformation of an old mahogany dresser into a modern buffet for the dining room.

I started with an old dresser that was given to me by one of my facebook friends. And broke it down by removing the doors, the internal structures for the drawer and then building my own shelves and doors for it.

I primed it using Sherwin Williams Prime RX Peel Binding Primer. I used this on my kitchen cabinets when I painted them it has been amazing!

I knew I wanted it to have a wood top. That would make it more sturdy than a regular dresser top. Plus I knew it would look good with the other wood accents in the dining area.

I measured and installed the wood on top of dresser using wood screws. And filled the holes with wood filler.

I taped off and covered the painted part of the dresser and then stained and topped it with a protective coat of polyurethane.

Once I did that I created the shelves using 4 board pieces.

After we installed the wood shelves, we reinforced them by screwing them into the brackets for stability and then stained the wood.

I stained those as well and then went on to creating the doors.

I created the doors using thin pine wood I purchased from Home Depot.

And then created the trim for the doors from extra pieces I had and attached them using gorilla glue. Then I filled the seams with wood filler and stained the doors too.

I added some nice hardware to go with the other accents in my kitchen/dining area, and used hinges to attached the doors to the dresser.

It took me way longer to complete this than it ever should. But I kept starting and stopping and doing other projects in between.
