How to Make an Acoustic Guitar Shelf

Get all the materials for this project:

• Fairy lights (Amazon)
• A guitar   (Amazon)
• Jig saw   (Amazon)
• Drill   (Amazon)
• Sander   (Amazon)
• Pliers   (Amazon)

At the beginning I'm planning how I would like to be.

The first step was removing all the strings from the guitar.

Pliers were helpful on removing the strings.

Then I traced where i would like to cut with a marker a few centimeters from the edge. 

Before cutting the top, I clamped the guitar on my workbench and made sure it was very sturdy and steady. I carefully moved the jig saw along the black marker and used a razor blade to cut between the body and the fretboard. 

After removing the lid I vacuumed the saw dust i made. With the upper lid off of the guitar it was time to move on to the next step. 

I grabbed a pair of strong pliers and used them to remove the wood from the inside of the guitar. An orbital sander also was used to help smooth out the surface. 

Then i brought the wood pieces for the shelves and tried to imagine how I want them. Here you can change the design and put the shelves as you like them. Then i cut them on the table saw but you can also use a hand saw to do the same.

Then it was time to stain the wood pieces and the inside of the body. I use a wallnut stain for the shelves and polyurethane varnish for the whole inside.

I used my drill to drill holes from the back of the guitar and screwed the pieces together. 

Then i used a hot glue gun and glued the led stripes to the inside rim of the guitar. Many clamps were used to hold them in place until the glue dried fully. 

Drill a hole towards the bottom of the guitar so an power source can be connected.
