How can I unclog my dishwasher automatic dishwasher?
I have a GE Profile dishwasher. It has a dispenser that you put dishwashing liquid into
(around a half a bottle) and when you start the dishwasher it automatically dispenses the correct amount per load. When the dispenser gets low, a red light comes on to refill. I used a different detergent and it clogged the dispenser. Can anybody explain explain how to unclog the dispenser? I have removed all the detergent I can get out and am running water through it to try and dissolve the clog. Any other ideas?

If you don't have the owner's manual, look for it online by searching the make a model of your dishwasher.
I'd check with GE on that as they'd likely have the best solution for you.
Get ahold of both the maker of the dishwasher and the maker of the detergent either or both should have encountered this problem before and know what you need to do to fix this problem.
I don't know how to "unclog" but I've seen multiple posts that advise not to use the detergent dispenser. Just add detergent to the bottom of the machine. I started doing this and it has worked beautifully. As for a guess on unclogging, vinegar would be my go to.
It would be besttk check it with GE on that. They'd likely give the appropriate solution for you.
Heat up some white vinegar and run it thru a cycle or two. It will unclog.
go online to GE and get info there so you won't mess up dishwasher or void your warranty
Some dishwasher detergents are thinner or thicker than others, some are liquid gel, some have a milkier consistency. Unfortunately, 'mixing' more than one brand together sometimes leads to the soap glumping up and not rising away properly.
Once you get your machine unclogged, I would suggest that you stick to only one brand/one type of detergent, to reduce the chance of it getting plugged up again.
I bet if you contact GE they will have a solution for you.
