fabric upholstery can be cleaned using a mixture of:
Mix the Cleaning Solution
In a spray bottle, combine one-half cup distilled white vinegar, one teaspoon Castile liquid soap, and one cup of warm water.
Label the Solution
Unless you plan to use all of the solution immediately, be sure to label the bottle.
Vacuum the Upholstery
When it's time to clean, vacuum the upholstery well to remove as much soil as possible.
Apply the Cleaner
Lightly spritz on the cleaner starting at the top of the furniture. Work in a small area and use a microfiber cloth to wipe down the fabric, lightly scrubbing any heavily stained areas.
Rinse and Dry
Dampen a clean microfiber cloth with clean water and do a final wipe-down to "rinse" the fabric. Allow the upholstery to air-dry.

Here's a helpful guide for you https://rescuemytimecleaningservice.com/house-cleaning-tips/diy-how-to-make-your-own-homemade-upholstery-cleaner/
I use a 1:3 ratio of white distilled vinegar and warm water with my Hoover carpet cleaner. I prefer not to use soap as it's difficult to remove without leaving a bit of residue. If you have quite a bit of upholstery to clean and don't have a carpet cleaner, it might be good to rent one so you can "vacuum/remove" the majority of the liquid.
Here's my recipe:
Combine all three in a spray bottle and shake to combine the ingredients. Mist the soiled area lightly with the spray bottle, then scrub the area in a circular motion with a soft cloth. Reapply as necessary, until the stained area becomes clean. Moisten your cloth with clean, warm water and repeat the scrubbing motion to remove excess soap. You can finish off by blotting the damp area with a dry cloth. In order to avoid discoloration of visible areas of the fabric, it is absolutely vital that you test it out first on a part of the furniture that is out of sight.
When we clean our couches, my husband usually gets an upholstery cleaner from the grocery store or Schnucks and he rents one of those carpet cleaners by the day with all of the attachments. It is the only way he's been able to clean our microfiber couches once a year before the holidays. They look like new! He will also get some spot removals and scrub those extra hard.
It would depend on the stain but in general, I use a bit of diluted borax (1 tsp in a cup) and a microfiber cloth.
Hi Mary, here is a great recipe for you to try,
https://rescuemytimecleaningservice.com/house-cleaning-tips/diy-how-to-make-your-own-homemade-upholstery-cleaner/
Hi Mary, we mix 1 c hydrogen peroxide (the 3%version, anything stronger might cause the color to fade), and ½ tbsp natural dish soap in a spray bottle and spray the upholstery until the surface is lightly soaked. Leave for 5 - 10 minutes and scrub lightly in a circular motion with a brush or rag. Spray with clean water and suck dry with shop vac. Test the mixture first on a inconspicuous spot for color fatsness.
To make this upholstery cleaner, you just need two ingredients: some dish soap and hydrogen peroxide. After spraying the upholstery lightly, you have to let it sit on the fabric for a few minutes. Use microfiber cloth to scrub it gently. Wet and blot the fabric if it feels soapy.
You may notice too many bubbles. In such a case, you rinse the fabric several times. To suck the seats dry, you will need to use your shop vac and steam cleaner. Do you want to make your own upholstery cleaner? This is a great option for you.
The process may take hours, but the fabric will be clean. However, if you need to clean a larger surface, this cleaner may not be a good option for you.

Hello. Mixing up some of the Oxiclean powder with water and putting that in a spray bottle with a little dawn dish detergent might be suggested.
I know you're asking for homemade but I thought I'd offer a store-bought option just in case... Tuff Stuff in a yellow and red can is inexpensive and works wonders! I hope this helps!
