What is your question?
Rub down and re-finish if Rubbing with Mayonnaise or cigarette ash or Metal polish doesn't work.......
Try Restore-A-Finish. Rub on with a soft cloth, wipe off with a 2nd cloth. Wipe in direction of grain. Comes in colors to match finish. Buy at home depot.
After you have repaired the damage, think about having a piece of glass or plexiglass cut to fit the top of your nightstands. No more worries!
In an auto store look for something that removes swirls from car finishes. I use one called swirl away. It works wonderful. I have used it on a cherry wood dresser and some other wood pieces I have. Just let it sit a bit and rub it with a soft cloth. You may need to do this a couple of times but it should remove the water marks.
Thanks, will try it.
