An Old Cutting Board Gets a Patriotic Flag Makeover

Last fall I purchased a large old cutting board at an estate sale and have been hanging onto it with the intention of making it into a sign. This past week I decided to pull it out and make it into a flag for the upcoming July 4th holiday.
I started out by painting the cutting board solid white on one side. Then using my Silhouette, I cut out sticky vinyl stars and USA letters and placed them on top of the white paint in the upper left corner of the cutting board. I also taped off a square area. Then painted over the corner with blue paint.
Once the blue paint was dry, I taped off stripes and painted over the untaped areas with red paint. I also peeled off the vinyl star sticker design.
Once the red paint was dry, I peeled off the tape and sanded the entire flag to distress it a little.
I also hand rubbed an antiquing glaze over it for an aged look. I also added a wire hanger to the back.
