With some pine boards and paint, you can make a simple red, white and blue tray for Independence Day!

Measure and cut boards

Using 1x4” pine boards, cut four pieces at 24” and two pieces at 14”.

Sand rough edges

Using some 80-120 grit sandpaper to sand away any rough edges

Paint and seal

Paint two of the 24” boards red, and two of them white. Then paint the 14” boards blue.

Any craft paint that is suitable for wood will work!

Use a polycrylic sealer to coat the boards once the paint is dry.

Let dry thoroughly.

Add glue all the way down the bottoms of the two 14” boards

Line up the boards and nail

Begin by lining up your first 24” board (either red or white) on the edge of both blue 14” boards. Use a brad nail gun with 1.5” brads attach. Proceed by adding the rest of the boards.

*if you don’t have a brad nailer, you can use 1.5” screws. Just be sure to pre-drill the holes and countersink the screws so that they don’t stick out and risk scratching your table.

Add handles and decorate!

Add a handle to the center of each blue board, near the edge, and you’re done! A simple red, white and blue board to use for serving some festive 4th of July snacks!
