How to Make a Spider Web Picture Frame

See how easy it is to make a yarn spider web... using any picture frame.
Start with a few basic supplies:
  • Black yarn
  • Tape
  • Scissors
  • A picture frame – any size will work. I used an inexpensive frame that I bought at the thrift store.
Wrap the black yarn around the frame two times.  You should feel like you are wrapping a simple package or present. Tie a square knot in the middle of the yarn.
Then, wrap yarn once around each corner of the frame to create the spokes of the spider web. You can secure the end of the yarn on the back of the frame with masking tape.
Now it’s time to create the web. Start in the middle and wrap yarn around each spoke of the web. Just weave yarn around the spokes, creating rings/circles. Continue to create these rings of yarn until you reach the edge of the frame.
You can display your spider web picture frame with your favorite Halloween décor. I displayed my frame on our living room mantel with a few other DIY Halloween craft projects – mini succulent clay pots, candles, a black and white photo, and spider web pumpkins.

It’s nothing too spooky, but still feels quite like Halloween. You can read all about my Mantel and the DIYs here.
