If you love the cool Rae Dunn dish collection, this project may be something you'll love. We love the simple look of the Rae Dunn collection, so we decided to make an easy gift jar inspired by this popular look.
I save a lot of glass jars for projects like this. I love the jars that have a full screw top lid. I believe this was a jelly jar in it's former life. For this project, I needed a smooth glass jar.
This project came together quickly using just a few supplies. I went to my 'go-to' spray paint and painted the outside of the jar with Rust-Oleum Gloss White spray paint. This gives the jars it's nice smooth finish. The lid was spray painted black with a semi gloss Rust-Oleum paint.

A sharpie or other thin black marker is great for writing on the jar. I didn't have a sharpie on hand, so I used another black marker. A cute red ribbon for Valentine's Day will give the finished jar a festive look for the holiday.
I used the marker to write the word "sweets" in tall capital letters. The Rae Dunn Dishes all have a particular font that is a little different from my simple hand written letters. If you want to get more exact on the font, print out the font that you want to use on a piece of paper and use carbon paper to trace the words on the jar with a pencil, then simply fill in with a black marker.

To keep the marker from smearing, I allowed the marker to set and dry and then gave the jar two coats of a clear spray top coat, allowing it to dry fully between coats.
Tie on the festive ribbon and fill with the treats of your choice.

We love this jar and have plans to make several more for various uses. My next project will be a dog treat jar.
