Autumn is here! My favourite time of the year! icon

I had a huge pile of leaves left from my previous project and I used it to decor the house. Bringing the outdoors inside.

In the bathroom

While the leaves were spending 24 hours under heavy books for flattening, after a nice wash, (you can never be too cautious with germs, can you? ) I tested my brush pens on a leaf. I decided to use only black and white pens, but only the pigment ink pens worked, all the water-based was smudging the leaf.

My favourite pen is "Pigma FB" by Sakura, it's perfect for both beginners and expert users.

Then, I picked a few leaves and tried to set them in a nice composition. When I was pleased with it, I went online and Googled the words - autumn + calligraphy, for inspiration.

I wrote on the leaves without tracing or any preparation.

Some didn't come out as nice as I wanted for my perfectionist's eye, so I threw them out of the window. Later on, I went outside to look for them, but the street was filled with so many different leaves I couldn't find mine.

In the end, I had 15 leaves with text on them.

Some of the red leaves were hard to be read, so I added a small highlight line with my Uniball Signo white pen.

Then, I made small discs out of Blu Tack.

I placed the Blu Tack discs (and spread it around a bit) on the sharp edges of the leaves

Then I got creative and started to glue the leaves to nice places around the apartment. It immediately added some colour and an autumn spirit to the place.

I started in the kitchen. Food and leaves, that combination makes some sense to me. I glued 3 small leaves on the bottom of the kitchen window, with the words "happy", "fall" and "autumn vibes" written on them,

Then, I went outside of the apartment door and glued 3 big leaves with welcoming text written on them on the front door of the apartment. I placed it on the right side of the door so as you walk through the hall you don't see it until you are facing our apartment door.

To finish the decor I went to the bathroom. Our bathroom has only grey shades to it, so the autumn palette immediately brought warmth to the room.

When it rains on the kitchen window, it looks as if the leaves are falling down. it's so cool!

Update: After almost a week on the window and wall, the leaves started to dry out.

I still find it charming.icon icon
