DIY Floral Heart-Shaped Wreath
Create a pretty floral heart shaped wreath that you can keep up long after Valentines Day!!
I've never decorated for Valentines Day but this year I was challenged to do just that!! Since I'm still trying to de-clutter our home I decided to create something that I could use year round, or at the very least through spring!
I'm loving all the pastels that are already popping up everywhere, so I decided to make a pretty pink floral wreath. The materials I needed for this were pretty simple. Faux flowers that I picked up at the Dollar Tree and a wood heart that I picked up in the craft department at Walmart.
The first thing I needed to do was remove the flowers from their stem. It's as simple as pulling up and the pop right off. I wanted the base to be as flat as possible so I did need to snip a few green stems at the base of some of the flowers with a scissors.
Once the flowers were ready it was time to glue them onto the wood heart. I used a hot glue gun with a low temperature and basically just placed a bit of glue on the side of the base and pressed in to place. After the flower was set I fluffed each one up a bit to fill in any gaps.
But I still ended up with a few so I filled them in with these smaller faux flowers I had on hand. I had both pink and this coral color which I think is the perfect combination!
I glued them into place as well. One final fluff and this wreath was ready to hang. I just used simple burlap ribbon for that. This floral wreath is obviously perfect for Valentines day but as I said it could be hung in a bedroom (romantic) home office,(inspiring) or even a walk in closet year round!I already had the flowers but if you didn't you could pick them up at the Dollar Store for $1 a bunch. (It took 4 bunches) You could also cut your own heart from leftover wood you may have lying around. Otherwise I picked that up for under $4!You can find the full tutorial for this sweet wreath on my blog!
