This little charity shop £1 bargain would be just what I needed to pretty up a guest bedroom. It was bit battered and rather than paint it which would still have shown the dents, I thought a good way to cover the wear and tear would be to decoupage it in scraps of pretty patterned fabric.

Preparation for decoupage mirror

I firstly cut up strips of similar length and width of thin cotton fabric in in various shades of pink and brown. I have a rough plan to alternate and co ordinate them to create variety and texture before sticking with Mod Podge hard coat sealer.

Cutting the fabric strips

I prefer to use a sponge foam applicator to seal and smooth the fabric strips to the wood frame as it helps smooth out wrinkles as you apply with its shaped tip.

Apply Mod Podge Adhesive and seal

Continue arranging and gluing the fabric strips around frame slightly over lapping as you go for a ship lap effect.

Overlapping fabric strips

I also coat the strips over the top with Mod Podge to create a wipe clean surface.

Cover the frame with strips of fabric

I am very pleased with the transformation it looks so sweet !
