It's super easy to sew your own box cushion - even if hate sewing! This was one of my very first sewing projects, back when I could barely thread the machine, and I made it through. If I could do it, so can you!

DIY Cushions don't require many materials, but the upholstery foam is crazy expensive! I've found a couple of ways around that, which I talk about in this post, if you're looking to cut down the cost!

I started by cutting the foam to size, and covering it with batting, securing the batting in place with Fabri-Tac. This acts as the "cushion" part of the project.

Then I cut two pieces to be the bottom plate of the cover, and hemmed the middle portion. The exact dimensions and seam allowance can be found in the full blog post.

I sewed on Velcro to each piece so that the final cushion cover would be removable.

Then I cut the top plate to size. I also cut out 3" squares from each corner.

Then I pinned and sewed the corners together.

Finally, I sewed the top plate to the bottom plate, and had a cushion cover!

Then the cushion was done! It was the perfect size for my dresser!
