When I found this girl, buried deep and unused for years, in the back of my dressing room, I knew that I had to make her shine once again. I purchased this grand old lady many years ago while traveling. For years, we were inseparable, until gradually she was replaced by the dreaded twosome, newer and shinier.
First, I removed the lining of the handbag in order to separate the front from the back. The handbag had done a lot of living so it was slow going. A seam ripper was my close friend taking her apart stitch by stitch.
The beadwork and intricate stitching were still beautiful. But what I found next was even more beautiful.
Yes, every stitch, every sequin, every border, had been sewn by hand. Now, I am really amped up and ready to share this beautiful lady with the Hometalk family.
Using Eileen's Tacky Glue, I secured the piece to a 12x12 board.
While we frequently find ourselves living in a throw-away society, it is grand ladies like this that remind us that, "Age is irrelephant."

I have a bag exactly like this one but hasn't been used much, its just too beautiful and it was a gift. I love your idea and maybe some day I will part with the bag idea and keep your idea in mind.

Francine, my bag had seen better days and I knew that it was time to let her rest in all her glory.
