Blue and White Chinoiserie Jar Inspired Makeover With Napkins

I love blue and white chinoiserie jars and vases. Given that they are around $100 each, I started thinking if there was an affordable way to make them myself.
I grabbed a glass jar, I painted it white with a multi surface paint to have a base to decoupage over.
I needed a fancy lid for my decorative jar.
I used the ordinary boring lid of the jar as the base, glued a saucer on top it (upside down)
Then I glued a smaller preserve jar lid as the third layer.
At the very top I attached a door stopper that is shaped as a semicircle.
Then I painted my new fancy lid white.
Then, comes the fun part: decoupaging!
I separated the ply of the napkins as I needed one ply.
Then, I cut the napkin to the size I wanted to work with. I used a soft napkin glue same as a mod podge
I painted the mod podge directly on the jar, then ust stuck the napkin onto it and painted the modpodge over the top with the brush.
I had all the jar covered with beautiful blue flowers.
Did the same with the lid and left them dry.
As a finishing touch I applied brown antiquing paint to the bottom of my jar ...
..and to the layers of the lid.
Last but not least seal your craft With varnish or mod podge sealer
I love my new blue and white decoupage jar which is surprisingly easy to make.

Wow! You would never know it was a canning jar. 🙂 "the extra" added antiquing paint looks almost real in the photos. This could be used on so many different sizes of jars!!! Reduce,Reuse,Recycle!🙂
