Create a flower arrangement and centerpiece for your table using lemons. This easy tutorial provides a little sunshine and interest to your glass vase, and is a fun and decorative way to conceal your flower stems!

I started with some lemons from the grocery store, aka, California sunshine in bag. You'll also need two vases, a smaller one to nest inside a larger one.

Your vases can be any shape or size, as long as one is smaller than the other, and with enough space between the two vases to place lemon slices to conceal the flower stems.

Once I had the lemons positioned between the vases, I added water between the walls of the vase so the lemons were completely submerged. The size of your vases will determine how many lemons you will need. Remove any loose seeds from the lemons slices prior to adding them to your vase so you don’t end up with floating lemon seeds. Fill your inner vase with water and any floral preservative and add your flowers.

Lemons were added to the flower arrangement with bamboo skewers. You can find bamboo kabob skewers in 10 and 12-inch lengths at most grocery stores.

I used a combination of hydrangeas, mums, sunny yellow gerbera daisies from the grocery store. Kaleidoscope abelia foliage clipped from the shrubs provide for some yellow-gold variegated accents of greenery.

For longer-lasting flowers:

Cut your flower stems at a 45 degree angle for maximum water uptake and remove any leaves below the water line.

Always add the floral preservative packets to your vase water that come with your flowers.

If you don’t have any floral preservative, you can make your own with this easy formula.

I had a bee in my bonnet and idea buzzing around in my head. . .how to add a couple of bees to my arrangement?

I used my bee magnets that I used to transform my napkin rings, attaching them to a metal binder clip, on top of a bamboo skewer.

Tuck the binder clip-topped skewer in between the flowers. The bee magnets stick to the metal binder clip for a fun addition, like adding a bit of jewelry to your flower arrangement!
