Land of Nod-Inspired Orbital Floor Lamp DIY

When I first saw The Land of Nod's version of an orbital floor lamp, something clicked for me and I knew I could make one for myself. For a lot less money.
I started with a vintage floor lamp we had sitting in our basement. Here it is in its "Before" shot.
Gotta love that shade. Obviously I was going to have to do a little work. But let me emphasize the word "little." All I had to do was spray paint it brown to match the orb I already had. The orb was sitting in our family room minding it's own business when I snatched it up for this project.
Then all I had to do was attach the orb. I used plain old, thin picture hanging wire to attach it to the top swing arm of the lamp. I twisted and twisted until the orb remained stable and upright.
Then it was time to add a light bulb. I think the type of bulb you use is important in a lamp like this one. It's industrial, so I believe a vintage-inspired Edison type bulb is best.
So what do you think? I was very happy with how it turned out!
