Make a Seasonal Fabric Stags Head Decoration

These fabric stags head make for a fantastic seasonal decoration. In fact my friend keeps hers up all year round. It depends on what fabric you use. You can use one to match your decor or if it's just for Christmas or Fall then use a more seasonable pattern design.
Here I will show you how to make a fabric stags head as they also make a great gift.
The hardest thing about making this stags head is choosing what patterned fabric you'd like. The fabric I used for mine was an Amy Butler fabric .

To make a large stags head you will need about a metre of fabric and less for a smaller one.
Once you have decided on your fabric you will need to cut out the pieces using a template. There is a template for a small stags head you can download on my blog here.
You will cut out six pieces of fabric 2 antler pieces facing left and 2 antler pieces facing right. As well as the front and back of the head. Firstly sew the antlers right sides together leaving the bottom open. Then turn right side out and partially stuff.
I use the stuffing from old synthetic pillows as this tends to be in small clumps making it easier to get into the corners of the antlers. You will also need to use a knitting needle to help push the stuffing into the far corners.
With the head place the 2 pieces right sides together and sew round the sides and head keeping the top and bottom open. Place the antlers inside, and stitch to the head with right sides of fabric facing. Remember to leave a gap at the bottom of the antlers so that you can finish stuffing.
Stitch up the remaining gap at the top of the stags head. By going through the hole in the bottom of the stags head finish stuffing the antlers and head until firm and then stitch up when finished.
